Effects of body mass on OGTT-derived insulin sensitivity indexes in healthy subjects

Several indexes have been proposed to quantify insulin sensitivity from fasting plasma glucose and plasma insulin levels as well as from the data obtained by the oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT). Obesity represents the major risk factor associated with development of insulin resistance and Type 2...

Obesity represents the major risk factor associated with development of insulin resistance and Type 2 diabetes mellitus. The goal of this paper is to study the effect of body mass index (BMI) on the insulin sensitivity indexes and secretion in normal glucose tolerance subjects. The experimental results show that he BMI is significantly and inversely correlated with insulin sensitivity indexes. © 2004IEEE. 2018-07-24T03:40:47Z 2018-07-24T03:40:47Z 2004-12-01 Conference Paper IEEE Region 10 Annual International Conference, Proceedings/TENCON.
