To extend the beneficial impact of deworming, the Asian Centre of International Parasite Control (ACIPAC) project has carried out activities to link deworming with health-promoting school programs in the Greater Mekong Subregion (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam). ACIPAC has also conducted an integrated school-health-based program, including deworming and malaria education, under the umbrella of the health-promoting schools initiative. Implementing 'beyond-deworming' efforts is now a practical challenge in the subregion. © 2006 Elsevier Ltd.
