In vitro shoot organogenesis in Anthurium andraeanum 'HC 028' - a highly valued cut-flower and potted ornamental plant
A high-frequency clonal propagation protocol was developed for Anthurium andraeanum 'HC 028', a highly valued a cut-flower and potted ornamental plant. Shoot tip explants of Anthurium andraeanum 'HC 028' were cultured on MS medium fortified with different concentrations of BAP (1...

Shoot tip explants of Anthurium andraeanum 'HC 028' were cultured on MS medium fortified with different concentrations of BAP (1.0-5.0 mg L-1) and kinetin (1.0-5.0 mg L-1) individually for shoot induction. The highest frequency (100%) of multiple shoot regeneration with maximum number of shoots (12.90 shoots explant-1) was noticed on MS medium supplemented with 4.0 mg L-1 BAP after being culture for 60 days. Elongated shoots dissected out from the in vitro proliferated shoot clumps were cultured on MS medium fortified with various concentrations (1.0-3.0 mg L-1) of auxins (NAA and IBA) for root induction. Highest frequency of rooting (100%) was noticed on MS medium augmented with 2.0 mg L-1 IBA. The plantlets were successfully acclimatized in the greenhouse with more than 95% survival rate. Regenerated plantlets were morphologically identical with mother plants. The present in vitro propagation protocol would facilitate an alternative method for rapid and large-scale production of Anthurium andraeanum 'HC 028' a cut-flower and potted ornamental plant. 2022-08-04T03:34:43Z 2022-08-04T03:34:43Z 2022-04-01 Conference Paper Acta Horticulturae.
