Description
Summary:This study measures the vulnerability and capability of communities around industrial complex areas systematically and applies the results to develop the methods to be widely applicable. The study consulted community leaders and disaster management officials to gather essential data. The study assessed social vulnerability, disaster coping capability, and disaster risk, including flood experience, by statistical analyses, questionnaire-based interviews, and focus group discussions with mappings. For instance, inundation simulations are indicated in the areas before a flood. The community leaders can instruct volunteers to evacuate the elderly and other vulnerable individuals via safer, non-flooding routes to safer evacuation centers, knowing their capacities. During ordinary times, the disaster experience will be used for disaster scenarios as training resources. The study develops practical approaches for disaster risk reduction in target communities in industrial complex areas. The findings contribute to Thailand and worldwide building sustainable communities in industrial complex areas.
