(CSR). The CSR of Para rabber industry, problems confronting the development of CSR were examined. The metbods, the industry population were listed directory of five provinces, namely,
Songkhin, Nakornsidharn unmarat, Thung, Pattalung and Satun. A group of individuals from which purposive 88 samples w s were taken for measurement. Structured question mnaires of semi-qualitative were implemented at 95% of level of confidence. The research findings included the Followings: 1) Paru rubber industry profile revealed that 523 pereent were located in Songkhla
province, managemnent level were 3-10 persons. Operational staffs were 80 pereent of workforce below 100 persons; and 70 percent of workforce below 200 persons. Initial capital for
investment, 51.I pereent, w t, was in the range of I-50 million baht. 22.7 percent of the industry have been openating mere than 20 years. Registered corporate as crape rubber and conoentrated latex, and 23.2 percent were export-oriented firms. 2) Management experience of industry exccutives were above 6 years, 94.3 percent were Thai Buddhists with bachelor degree attainment or higber. Tbe study also revealed that 19.8 percent of respondents take responsibility more than 1 firms located in Songkhla and another provinces. 3) Conceming the corporate social responsibility, approximately 78.4 porcent of executives stated that they emphasize the practice of corpornte social responsibility relating to all stakebold sIders at mooderate level of responsibility or higher in all aspects. 4) Probleims and obstacles confronting tbe industry roles and practioes of CSR were itemized as follows: Para industry overall problems 75.6 percent, labor sbortnge 40.2 percent, community complaints 32.9 percent, lack of govemment support 29.3 percent, Complaint on waste water pollution and ervironnvent management system 18.3 percent, lcgal enforeement inflexible 9.8 percen ent, and export barriers 4.9 peroent. Operational scheme on CSR stated that their enterprises have inndequnte budget, 55.6
percent. Variety of customers did not. understa stand tbe roles and practices of CSR. Customers complaints on environmental issues 20.4 pereent. Govem mrnent policy on CSR was inaccurale,
20.4. pereent, industry legpl constraint 16.7 pereent and lack of mass comruni ication and public relation on CSR. 9.3 pereent. The recommend ndstions included: (1) Parn mbber industry publicize their roles and practices of CSR, especially via mass commun municntion and public relation; (2) entrepreneurs sustainability will also base on CSR, and (3) Public sectons rs and Southemn Para Rubber associations should regularly participate in the roles and practices of CSR. |
