Summary: | The research program: Developing way of Thainess tourism in vulnerable areas in coping
to climate change was developed to find appropriate Thainess tourism model for tourism
communities, tourism entrepreneurs and related organizations can apply for using and planning
to develop tourism model in vulnerable areas in order to develop sustainable tourism. The results
from three research projects are as following.
1) The results from tourists revealed that majority of participants are female with aged
between 20 to 29 years. Most of them are single and hold a bachelor’ s degree. Most of
participants are university students and their average income is between 10,000 and 30,000 Baht.
The origin region of these participants are the Southern Thailand. The results of an evaluation
toward the potential of natural and cultural tourist attractions displayed that Muang district
obtained a potential in tourist attraction, accessibility, and amenities. However, Huy Yod district
had a potential to develop in tourist attraction. In terms of Pa Lien District (Sukorn Island), activities
and attraction were two main potentials, whereas Kan Tang District (Li Bong Island) revealed a
potential in tourist attraction and accommodation. To certain extent, Slow Tourism tends to
develop in a small countryside community with has an originated lifestyle such as Li Bong Island
and Sukorn Island. The outcomes of this study showed that Slow Tourism in each area should be
developed continually along with a good cooperation with the leaders and the representatives
of local communities and public and private sectors. The most important concept on Slow
Tourism in the context of Trang province is the development should not be rushed, rather to
sustain the nature and the local culture should be more emphasized as there two factors are the
main ways to cultivate the sustainable tourism in the area.
2) The results of potential assessment showed the biodiversity of aquatic animals, the highest
potential ecological resource in all indices and is the main profit for local people, at the average
value of 4.4. It could be the indication of the abundant food chain in Koh-Mak. The main economic
aquatic animal such as Plotosus canius, Heteromycteris hartzfeldii, Macrobrachium rosenbergii,
Metapenaeus brevicornis were mostly found. The local vegetation, the secondarily mostly found
at the average value of 4, were the conventional plant, e.g. sugar palm, cashew nuts, and Parkia
speciose, etc. the same kinds of bird found in Khu Khut Water Fowl Park were found at the
potential ecological resource of 3.7 the lowest average value at 1.6 was the community water
management. The results of potential assessment were presented to local people in the
community through brain storming activities. Eight tourism activities on two tourism routes, both
land and water tourism routes, were proposed for the development guideline. From the study,
the learning water tourism routes, were proposed for the development guideline.The learning of
local fishery was the highlight among the proposed tourism activities and rarely found at present.
The potential ecological resources were developed to be souvenir products. The result found
that crispy rice mixed with shrimp and hepatopancreas of Metapenaeus brevicornis shrimp
(control) has the most acceptance of sensory evaluation with statistical significant ( p < 0.05)
compared with other treatments. The developed product can use to be guideline for product
improvement that state the community identity by using marketing communication concept to
promote product sale.
3) The result topic of “Study of Thainess tourism route with low carbon conscious at Phang Nga
Province”, indicated the community-based tourism area in the context of natural resources, local
wisdom and culture. The routes of tourism activities are organized by the local community that
is awareness of the environmental impacts. The study area is Ban Sam Chong Nuea Community,
Takua Thung District, Phang Nga Province. The evaluation result has a high potential of 2.57,
suitable for low-carbon tourism activities. The guidelines for the development and management
by the local participation. The select activities for kearning and tourists to gain experience such
as food, the way of life with the Muslim community, social, cultural and environmental values in
accordance with the guidelines and the context of the community. The results of the study were
presented to the community through a brainstorming process, allowing formulating a new
alternative tourism in local. |
