| Summary: | Researching on the historical development of important cities in the southern
local during the historical period for building a body of knowledge in multicultural
education in the southern region, Thailand. the objectives of this article were 1. to
examine the historical development of the birth of important cities in the southern
part of the historical period 2. to examine the state of the multicultural society in the
history of important cities in the south region and 3. to examine the guidelines for
applying historical data from research to use in learning management to create an
understanding of local history and learning to create a peaceful society by integrating
from the concept of studying local history, the concept of peace and understanding
of coexistence in different cultural societies, and the concept of using the community
as a learning base and participating in the management of local history studies in
research.
The findings indicated that 1. The Historical development of the birth of
important cities in the south especially the east coast namely Surat Thani, Nakhon Si
Thammarat, Songkhla, and Pattani entered the historical period together from the end
of the 11th-12th Buddhist century. Until around the 19th Buddhist century, where
archeological traces reflect the founding of city groups in an ancient state and later
developed in later times 2. The state of a multicultural society in the history of
important cities in the southern region revealed that the multicultural society appears
in the way of different people. Ethnicity, both indigenous and foreign the port city in
the south was an important source for people from other countries to settle in both
trade and cultural propagation to blend into the identity of the multicultural society
of the people of the south in the later period. Being a multicultural society appears in
terms of identity, language, ethnicity, religion, as well as cultural traditions in each
locality and the guidelines for applying historical data from research to use in learning
management to create an understanding of local history and learning to create a
peaceful society revealed that The results of community-based utilization and society
can use the knowledge from research to build an understanding of peace education learning and to resolve conflicts of opinion related to history. Besides, the knowledge from the research was also used to integrate the study of development and conservation of local cultural history. As well as a comparative study of the history of
local knowledge from other countries in the country, which will have a beneficial effect
on the development of humanities knowledge potential in the historical dimension. |
