Description
Summary:Nowadays, the use of oil in daily life is increasing. However, the amount of oil reserved by nature decreases rapidly. Enhanced Oil Recovery is an invention method to overcome this problem. One of EOR processes is Steam Flood, which is a process of injecting the steam into reservoir. During this process, however, we sometime obtain as un-optimal production of oil. This is predicted due to the present of bottom water, that is a layer of water appears at the bottom part of the oil layer. An un-optimal production of oil is indicated by the facet that the water reach a production well before oil. In this final project, we derive a model that gives us the information about this situation. The situation can be considered as a problem of stability of two fluids in which steam is injected along the upper fluid. In this model, we use free-rigid surface boundary. The stability is represented by so called Rayleigh Number. For a given Rayleigh Number, we obtain a maximum flow rate of oil and maximum temperature.
