This type of relay is used because PLN's distribution network is operated radials and also there is no other generator connected. Distributed Generation or Decentralized Generation is a new terminology in Electrical Power Systems. The Device that called Generator Set or Genset as its common name is a small scale generator which parallel operated with medium voltage network. Operation of the Distributed Generator is not controlled by Distribution Control Center of electrical utility company, because this device owned by another party. Distributed Generator connected on medium voltage network could impact the protection system performances that using Over Current Relay in case of short circuit. The magnitude of Short circuit current at the point of the faulty feeder connected with the Distributed Generator is different with no Distributed Generator there. The Over Current Relay Setting coordination in this network must be re-observed. |
