Description
Summary:For over 20 years, polymer and surfactant has been used to reduce pressure loss in a pipeline system. Addition a small amount of polymer or surfactant into a turbulent Newtonian fluid may cause a drag reduction. Friction can be reduced by a drag reducer that will lead to decreasing of pressure loss. One of the ways to determine friction is by using Reynold number where there is viscosity parameter content. Therefore, a research was conducted in laboratory scale in order to study the effect of addition of polymer or surfactant to the viscosity of oil. Polymer being tested in this research was the one that is used in Kaji field, while the surfactants were from EOR laboratory, ITB.
