Summary: | Important functions of well testing are useful to identify the characteristics of a reservoir and can also be used for a well production optimization. Back pressure test is one of several methods of well testing that provides highly reliable outputs if it is provided by an adequate opening time. On the other hand, testing durations should also be considered due to an expensive cost. In relation to this important matter, this study is aimed to create a simple correlation to determine a well opening time for the back pressure test. The model used in this study is based on a cylindrical homogeneous oil reservoir with one well located in the center of a reservoir. This model is then validated using a Pressure Transient Analysis so that the reservoir data inputed in the simulator and with respect to time the Pressure Transient Analysis results are matched. The reservoir simulation used in this study is to generate a profile of pressure time of the back pressure test and generate a correlation through sensitivity analysis.<p>From the back pressure test data, reservoir performance is analyzed using the Inflow Performance Relationship (IPR) and Tubing Performance Relationship (TPR) to create a nodal analysis in order to obtain an optimum oil flow rate from the well. This study obtains a correlation to determine the oil flow rate by considering the sensitivity analysis of the reservoir and tubing parameters. The generated correlation is in the form of polynomial equation with 94% accuracy and the highest order is three. |
