Summary: | Oil field X has been producing for over 25 years. Currently, this field produces 197350 BFPD with more than 95% of water cut. Typically, it is complicated for an old oil field to increase its oil rates due to highly cost in conducting enhanced oil recovery (EOR) and its low possibility of success. Therefore, the changes in surface's system should be an alternative way to increase oil rate. One of the main problems in surface is flow obstacles or commonly called bottlenecking. Bottlenecking is caused by high pressure drop on certain pipe segment due to low pipe's size. Beside, the different between wells in reservoir pressure must be one factor that occurrence of bottlenecking.<p>This paper describes how the changes in surface's system have been done in order to increase oil rate. Then, a model has been made referenced to field conditions. From the running of model, we could identify which were pipe segments have to be considered as bottlenecking. Then we fixed it by shutting down selected wells, changing old pipe by the new bigger diameter one, installing parallel pipe next to bottlenecked pipes, or shifting the path of fluid flow to new pipeline. Eventually, we calculated the economical aspect of each solution for selecting the best one. |
