| Summary: | The recent development of technology in telecommunication is progress towards to a convergence network with their layered horizontal architectures. Migration is needed by cellular operator, so that convergent cellular communication network can be operated. This migration is had to be done because there are differences in architecture and technology between conventional cellular communication network and convergent cellular communication network. One condition in order to a convergent cellular communication network can be operated is the migration from TDM to IP network so that many services can be carried by one network platform, IP platform.<p>This final project analyze the migration of cellular network from TDM to IP, which is performed by operator X. The objective of this final project is to discovering the reason why cellular operator migrating their network from TDM to IP, comparing the migration process performed by operator X with the existing theory, and so comparing the performance of cellular network before and after migration process.<p>Operator X was migrating their MSC to MSS in order to implementing IP core network. The migration type that used by operator X is IP island, while introduce of MSS was performed node-by-node and MSS introducing in access first. While the stability of network after migration process is same with the stability of the network before migration. Meanwhile, the increasing of effectiveness of channel utilization can be proved by analyzing the performance data. |
