Description
Summary:Fractional aircraft ownership concept, where each individual or corporation

may own a fraction of an aircraft, have revolutionized the corporate aviation

industry. For this system, the owners have previlage to schedule their flight

according to the need. Fractional management companies (FMC) manage all

aspects of aircraft operations, whether with FMC’s aircraft or with outsource

aircraft as an alternative. This gives the owners the right to enjoy the benefits

of private aviations. However, FMC may have complicated business

requirements that neither commercial airlines nor charter airlines faces. One

of the main challenges that affects it profitability is how to find the number

of optimal aircraft, in order to obtain the maximum profit. In this final

assignment, three kinds of demand scenario are made to represent different

flight operations from different types of fractional owners. The problem is

formulated as an optimization of profit to find the optimum flight assignment

satisfying the weekly demand from the owners. Numerical results are

obtained by genetic algorithm method.
