Summary: | Kelay River located in Berau City, East Borneo was one of many river that will be used by BERAU COAL Ltd. to connect the coal mining transportation in order to distribute the coal from the mine site to the buyer. Therefore to maintain and keeping the transportation activities running, it required the presence of an engineering activity on the river, the activities that will be introduced and explain further here are hydrographic surveys for cruise line planning. The purpose of this hydrographic survey was to determine the depth of the riverbed, the riverbed depth will be used as a reference for the river flow and cruise planning to support the transportation of mining activities. Thesis begins with finding mutual reference related to the hydrographic surveys and cruise line planning, and then proceed to hydrographic surveys data acquisition. In this state, these surveys are include in determining the horizontal position using Real Time Kinematic GPS method, measuring the depth of the riverbed using acoustic method (i.e single beam echosounder) and river tide observation using an automatic recording pressure tide gauge. After all the data has been collected, data processing starts with combining all the data including the depth correction from river tide, after all the data has been processed, the batymetrical chart presentation will be used for further analysis. Analysis of the survey results include the accuracy and the reliability of the survey according to the International Hydrographic Organization in Special Publiction 44, 5th edition published on February 2008. The analysis of river tide as well as the feasibility of the cruise line with respect to the type of ships that will pass through the river in order to perform the transportation activity. With the hydrographic survey for cruise line planning activity, the engineering process is expected to maintain safety and continuity for coal mining distribution through the river from time to time. |
