Summary:PT.Kaltim Prima Coal is one of several open pit coal mining which has the biggest production target in Indonesia at the present. Mine planning process is an important thing for PT.Kaltim Prima Coal to achieve their production target. In order to achieve that goal, is neccesary to construct mining stage plan to excavate up all of the reserve starting from initial point until the ultimate of pit limit. Design of mining steps devide ultimate pit into smaller minning plan (stage plan) hence it will be easier to be managed. This stage plan create the complexity 3 dimension planning problems become simpler. <br /> <br /> <br /> Inul Pit is one of the pits in HATARI AB Department planned to be mined out in 2009. Inul Pit is located in the north of Far North Pit and having 1.517.665 tons of coal reserve with stripping ratio 9,15 : 1. Prior to starting to mine Inul Pit, it is neccesary to create 2 dimension geomeric forms based on technical criterious given. Those technical criterious are access, sequence, and water management. <br /> <br /> <br /> Inul Pit has hilly topography which is offering advantages and disadvantages. Generally, mining stage plan of Pit Inul will start from the south to the north direction, and turns over when coal in north area reached the lowest point. By creating the stage plan of Inul Pit, overview of mining operation will be determined, the possibilities of problems that might occur are able to analyzed and also developing alternatives operational in order to achieve optimum mine planning.
