Silika was chooses as the basic material template because its behaviour ; biocompatible, can be produced at room temperature, and easily found in nature. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> In this study, silica microcapsule manufacture performed by sol-gel method and emulsification (water-in-oil emulsion). Tetraethyl Orthosilicate (TEOS) used as silica source. Span-60 (nonionic surfactant) used transform and stabilize the emulsion, while chlorhexidine gluconate is used as an active hydrophilic compound that encapsulated. Emulsification speeds which performed as a parameter of this process are 18,000 rpm, 20,000 rpm, and 22,000 rpm. Characterization of the samples is done by FTIR, SEM, BET, and UV / Vis. silica microcapsules sizes is influenced by the concentration of surfactant (2% Span-60), the volume of TEOS (15.2 ml) as silica source, and speed of emulsification. From the characterization results obtained the smallest microcapsule diameters size between 0.1-2μm at 22,000 rpm emulsification speed, with 332.6013 of specific surface area m2 / g and an average pore diameter of 28-29 Å which belong to the mesoporous material. text |
