The process of designing suspension Formula SAE® car racing began with collecting and studying literatures, which then makes a basic sketch on millimeter block paper. The next step is translating basic sketch to a software <br /> <br /> <br /> Autodesk Inventor Professional 2010. Determination of dimension and geometry were referred by the Formula SAE® participant’s data, for the dimension of the rod which is used also referred to component that are common use in the market. <br /> <br /> <br /> In designing this suspension, there is a change in the dimension and geometry. Independent suspension type is selected in this design,with using pulling rod and bell crank for force transmitted from wheel to spring. In this design the spring stiffness is obtained, from the determined static deflection for front 34mm and rear 26 mm, 25,39 N/mm for the front and 180,11 N/mm for the rear. The <br /> <br /> <br /> position of the spring located on the outside of the car, with the same axis based on length of the chassis for front and the same axis based on height of the chassis for the rear. Roll center racing car set 110mm below the ground surface. The main material used to make a race car suspension components Formula SAE® is carbon stell. By selecting the pipe as a composer profile suspension rod, having an external diameter of 20 mm and 16 mm in diameter. text |
