Summary: | Merapin dredger is owned by PT. Koba Tin operated from 1987 to 2002 for the condition of tin mining operations on land. PT Koba Tin was going to reactivate Merapin dredger for offshore operation. To meet the operating condition, a variety of design improvements and modifications required for dredger. One of the improvements and modifications must be made is the mooring winch. This is done because the load required to move the ship increases as a result of additional equipment on a dredger, the addition of a long ladder and operation of ships at sea in order to move the mooring winch boat safely advance to offshore operations.

Force analysis necessary to move the boat forward and laterally is conducted in this final task. The amount of force to move the ship is then used to determine specification of mooring winch’s main components such as wire rope, electric motors, leading pulley, drums, transmission systems, and structure of the side leading pulley. After getting the specification of mooring winch’s components to be used, then it can be estimated weight of these components. Weight data is then used to simulate the stress distribution of the mooring winch’s foundations structure that will be used.

From analysis results, the greatest force to move the ship when the ship is moving forward in the amount of 453.22 kN and the diameter of steel cable is used for 44 mm. For
mooring winch system used 1 piece motor with the power of 125 hp and 1000 rpm spin. The maximum stress on the side leading pulley occur in cast steel connector for pintle bearings in the mount of 179.24 Mpa. Von Mises maximum stress on the mooring winch’s foundation is 129 Mpa. |
