Two of them, with compressive strength of 30 MPa and 50 MPa, had void 3 mm filled with polymer matrix. The void was located in zero moment region so we could observe its behaviour againts shear. The results were compared with ordinary continuous beams for each compressive strength. All beams had the same shear span-to-depth ratio. The shear span was 750 mm to have a/d = 6.5 measured from exterior supports or a/d = 4.8 measured from interior support. Behaviour of continuous beams with void differ from ordinary continuous beams. Because of low porosity in high strength concrete, weak bond between polymer matrix and concrete formed more vertical cracks at the interface zone and increased the deflection. Consequently, high strength concrete continuous beam with void achieved lower ultimate load than normal concrete. All tested beams exhibited a diagonal tension type of failure dominated with flexural shear crack. Since the concrete reached its maximum capacity before the reinforcement yields, the failure of beams with void were more brittle than that of ordinary beams. text
