CIR is the minimum traffic load that can be guaranteed by Internet Service Provider, so it can be certain that the leased network is having not less than minimum traffic load. Change in CIR will affect system response time, and as we upgrade the CIR, we can also expect that we will having faster response time. But, it’s not wise to have the highest CIR we can get, because not all network need high CIR. Network with low traffic load doesn’t need high CIR as network with high traffic load, because if we lease high CIR, we will pay higher lease fee as the result. <br /> <br /> <br /> In this final project, one of the biggest bank in Indonesia banking network have been simulated using OPNET IT Guru Academic Edition 9.1. With the simulator I have used different CIR in the same network and compare them, so we can conclude which CIR is optimum for the simulated. The parameter in which I compare are DB Query Response Time and FTP Server Response Time. From the simulator output, I conclude that in performance consideration, the best CIR to be used is 256 kbps. But, if we include cost into consideration, I suggest that client used different CIR for every node, which is cheaper. text |
