Summary: | Currently fuel price become more expensive due to lack of crude oil globally. Global industries as some of the fuel consumers has been trying to find easy-to-get and inexpensive fuel. Using LPG (Liquified Petroleum Gas) is one of the solutions. CI engine is one of the major prime mover used in industry, that has the potential to use LPG. But LPG’s high self ignition temperature causes the CI engine not being able to use LPG to 100%. CI Engine still needs another fuel as pilot igniter that can self-ignite as the result of the pressure in combustion chamber. The parameters used to evaluate the effects of dual fuel using LPG-Diesel Oil are diesel engine performance, exhaust gas, and fuel consumption cost. Performance parameters that have been monitored are using of spesific fuel and thermal efficiency. Exhaust gas emission parameter is evaluated by monitoring its smoke opacity. In dual fuel application, LPG and Diesel Oil comparation based on energy percentage is 17,88% of LPG and 82,12% of Diesel Oil. Dual fuel thermal efficiency tends to be higher, with the smoke opacity lower. Another effect is the decrease in operational cost. The application of this dual fuel LPG-Diesel Oil is suitable for operation at 1.500 rpm. |
