Summary:The government has required all coal companies to transport the product of coal through the private line, because public infrastructure will not be able to accomodate heavy vehicles of coal transportation. If the coal transport is forced through the public line, it will ruin and make overload capacity of the public infrastructure. Based on that, PT. Beraucoal utilize the river lane to distribute their product of coal. In this case study,the research is carried out on the Kelai river, Berau, East Kalimantan as it will open a new mining blocks in the area Parapatan. The problem faced is Kelai river is shallow making it difficult to operate the barge. From that case it make be river Kelai as vehicles crossing the path of coal-transport vehicle that can be connected to the block Binungan 1-4. Research conducted includes the observation of river tide for 29 days and bathymetric surveis according to the IHO in SP-44 with observations of river tide for the correction. Bathymetric obtained from the survei results can be planned so that the height of the river pier locations that will be built to support the distribution of coal.
