Summary: | Developing technology and sciences made the economic activities take part in increasing. We needed energy resources to support all the available economic activities. Increasing the issuing size of energy resources that are explored resulted in quite big impact for environmental damages.
Coal fired Steam Power Plant that became the producer of electricity also caused the negative impacts to the environment. The Results of the coal burning at coal fired steam power plant are not only dusts but also poisonous gases like SO2 and NOx that cause pollution of air and acid rains. Flue Gas Desulfurization System (FGD) is one of the solutions to eliminate SO2 pollution that contained in discarded gas from PLTU At this time PLTU Suralaya is the power plant that has the biggest generation capacity in Indonesia. This big capacity causes emissions SO2 that is big also. The utilization of gas SO2 in the system of Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) evidently produces the product that has a high value like gypsum or ammonium sulfate. The Installation of FGD become good prospect business opportunity for Indonesia Power to gain more revenue.
The offered solution through this final project is by means of the election of the system of Flue Gas Desulfurization. They are three alternatives to be recommended. The alternatives are Limestone with Forced Oxidation FGD, Magnesium with Enhanced Lime FGD, and Ammonia-Based FGD by considering several aspects like SO2 Removal Efficiency the potential for the sales of the product that produced by the reaction and the
aspects of financial like cash flow, NPV,IRR, Payback Period, as well as Profitability Index. From this Analysis, Ammonia Based FGD is decided to be a recommendation as problem solution at Suralaya Coal Fired Steam Power Plant because of the highest SO2
removal efficiency, good prospect product, positive NPV, and good IRR. |
