In achieving the target, great diggers combined with great productivity of trucks are essential. One of aspects influencing equipment’s productivity is delay and idle of those equipments. <br /> <br /> <br /> Idle is a time lost when the equipments are producing something. One of idle occurring in mining operation is meal and pray. Meal is time allocated to operator for eating, whereas pray is a time allocated to operator for praying, especially for Moslem operators. In spite of those things are necessary, idle is able to be managed well in order to reduce its effects not too influence losses of time production. <br /> <br /> <br /> Data of Meal and pray duration on day shift operations obtained from 13 Caterpillar trucks 785 in Hatari Department from June until August 2007 shows that 60% of meal and pray data, 30% of meal data, and 47% of pray data are over of its plan of each idle (meal pray 25 minutes, meal 15 minutes, and pray 10 minutes). As a consequence, the total losses of time production during meal and pray on day shift from those 13 trucks are 21.6 minutes per day. These losses show that Hatari Department losses an amount of 1,691 bcm of overburden per month if the payload of one Caterpillar truck 785 is assumed 134.7 tons each. <br /> <br /> <br /> Result of measuring duration obtained from each operator activities during the gap of meal and pray at site shows that the primary factors causing additional time of idle in meal and pray are ineffective time during meal and pray, and not taken the idle toilet by the operator. Accordingly, the solutions recommended are more focusing on supervisor’s duties in cabin to supervise meal and pray process, and preventing duration of meal and pray that exceed the idle plan in order to reduce or even eliminate the loss of production caused by meal and pray.
