Description
Summary:PT Freeport Indonesia, an international mining company, under concentrating division, decided to do expansion on crusher plant with capital of $49 millions. PT Freeport Indonesia had done numbers of expansion project since 1988. This expansion objectives are to anticipate underground mine increase production capacity from 70,000 tons to 80,000 tons per day, as well as to anticipate the probability of reducing mill production due to harder ore from under ground. During this expansion project, the team found some issues that were not anticipated before. Those issues become project risks that can distrub the whole expansion proyek. Some of those issues are: production loss during construction, cost over budget, delay schedule, quality of installation and hand over documentation. Some methods to identify all risks that possible to happen was engaged, such as experience from previous project, work breakdown structure from Project management, construction sequence and strength weakness opportunity threat (SWOT) analysis. Those identified risks were than to be analized to find the root causes and determine the priority. Risk Management method at Project Management approach was used to analize operational risks in this project. In this Risk Management includes risk

identification, root cause analysis, qualitative and quantitative analysis, risk response planning and monitoring and control. Some of the implementation plan for this project already been applied, but other implementation programs need to be continued to achieve the success of the proyek.
