Description
Summary:Angklung is a musical instrument made of bamboo from West Java that have announced as one of the educational instruments by the regional government of West Java Province. The provision caused the increasing demand of angklung over the years. The increasing demand gives rise to demand of PT. Saung Angklung Udjo (SAU) as the

biggest angklung producer in West Java and caused lacking in capacity of SAU to fulfill the demand from customers without ignore the quality issue. SAU adopt the partnership system in producing angklung. Based on observation, the disability in fulfilling the demand from customers was caused by the limitation number of craftpeople, especially the strain man, the core of every craftpeople group. Becoming a good tone man will need 1-5 years in learning. The limitation drives SAU to

optimized the existing capacity to fulfill the demand in a certain time. In order to formulate the mid term aggregate production planning, an initial observation was done by discussion and interviews with management of SAU and craftpeople group. The data gathering, such as demand, cost pricing and existing capacity was done by direct observation and from the historical data. Based on this data, we formalize a Master Production Schedule (MPS) that will become the input for compiling the Rough Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP). The objective of RCCP are to compare the existing capacity and the required capacity of SAU and how much the cost to fulfill the 12 period demand (1 year), from June 2009 to May 2010.

From the result of RCCP, we conclude that the lack of capacity occur to angklung sarinande and unit besar only, and the cost to fulfill the next 1 year demand is

Rp 2.467.656.073. The recommendation to deal with the lack of capacity are adding the number of craftpeople group, especially the craftpeople from Tasikmalaya and Ciamis, and using the excess capacity of other product to help to produce angklung sarinande and unit besar.
