The aims of this research are to understand the <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> geological setting of Pinasungkulan and surroundings area based on field data using <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> scale of 1:12.500 in 4 x 5 km2 area and also to analyze the geochemistry aspects of <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> geothermal manifestations in order to create a model of geothermal system in the <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> research area. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> The research area is located in the northwest of Mt. Duasudara and Mt. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Tangkoko. Based on the landscapes, the research area can be divided into Volcanic <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Cone Unit, Volcanic Footslopes Unit, and Volcanic Denudational Hills Unit. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Geology of the research area is also affected by the volcanic products of Mt. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Duasudara and Mt. Tangkoko. Geological history of the research area started on the <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Pleistocen, marked by the activity of Mt. Duasudara that deposited Tuff Unit, <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Andesitic Lava Unit, and Lapilli Tuff Unit sequentially. Then, the volcanic activity <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> was shifting northeast triggering the activation of Mt. Tangkoko that produced <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Pyroxene Andesitic Lava Unit in the Pleistocene. the northwest of After all of the <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> lithological units were deposited, the geological structures that were controlled by <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> the activity of East Sangihe Subduction, i. e. Pinasungkulan Normal Fault, Toka <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Tembaankoka Normal Fault, and Pareng Normal Fault were formed. The faults are <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> formed within one period of time. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Geochemical survey was done in order to know the geothermal system model <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> of Pinasungkulan and surrounding area by using water geochemistry analysis. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Geothermal manifestations in the form of bicarbonate (HCO3) warm springs are <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> found in 5 different locations, i.e. Pinasungkulan, Serawet, Batuputih, and Pareng <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> area, with temperature ranging from 34-41oC and pH 6,91-7,62. The manifestations <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> are originated from one reservoir with temperature rising about 200-230oC at 1.256- <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> 1.497 m depth. The heat source of the geothermal system is controlled by the activity <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> of Mt. Tangkoko. The geothermal system in the research area has intermediate <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> temperature geothermal system with 20 MWe speculated resource. text
