Aneka Tambang, Tbk. which is engaged in exploitation of gold and silver metal. Based on exploration data and research, pongkor gold ore deposit is a type epithermal deposits (vein). Mining system is underground mining Cut and Fill method. The location of this research is stope with access crosscut 10-4 level 500 South Block Ciurug vein, UBPE Pongkor PT Antam Tbk. At this location, the activities carried out excavations in the stope to the north. The concern about this <br /> <br /> excavation activities is vertical shaft CURB 1 that have main function as a channel for mine ventilation. If the stability of CURB 1 is disturbed, then the risk to disrupt the supply of outside air into the mine. Therefore, the field investigation is necessary in order to analyze the effect of excavation activity at the stope crosscut 10-4 level 500 through a model that can be known safe limit excavations in the area. Through this study is expected the stability of the vertical shaft CURB 1 can stay awake and mining operations can run well. CURB 1 stability analysis performed using an empirical and numerical analysis, using structural mapping of the input parameters, physical and mechanical properties of materials, and fracture characteristics of the field. The numerical analysis carried out by using distinct element method in order to know the general behavior of rock mass due to the presence of a weak field in the rock mass in the vein while the empirical analysis conducted using RMR to determine the classification of rock mass conditions at the study sites. text
