Summary: | The shear strength of rock masses is one of the factors that play a role in the mechanics of rock slope stability. To determine the parameters that affect the stability of slopes, it is needed a direct shear test with real conditions accurately, so that the accuracy of the calculation of slope geometry will be better. One way to achieve that are tests with rock samples which have a larger size scale. In this research, the sampels of small-scale and large scale direct shear test have a range from laboratory size and 25x25cm, 50x50cm, 75x75cm, 100x100cm. In this study, researcher saw the relationship between physical properties of rock with the shear strength test of rock with consideration of porosity and grain size in rock sample. <br />

The result of this study showed that a layered sandstone which has a porosity of 18% had a decrease in the value of cohesion as 60.13% for each increasement in scale size rock of 94.6 cm. While the decline in the value of cohesion in green sandstone with a porosity of 57% is 66.32% for each increasement in scale size rock of 94.6 cm. |
