Benchmarking result of CPI projects indicated that executed projects under Capital Project Management Team shown higher cost, longer schedule and lower quality compare to average worldwide industry. Only safety performance shown significantly higher than average industry. From the assessment indicate that the root cause of less performance compare to average industry are higher project manager turnover, ineffective in managing project portfolio and inconsistent using CPDEP process in managing the projects due to competencies of project managers and project engineers. To solve those issues, we need to accelerate the development of project engineer competenciesthrough job rotation consistently by aligning people strategy with managing project portfolio that could be described as follows:• Refine governance model for project portfolio management• Improve selection process for project prioritization• Develop the guideline for job rotation• Align between career path of employees with project manager selection, job rotation plan and mentoring to ensure effective job rotation• Improve external hiring process to ensure the resource allocation and assignment for new hires start from hiring process. Expected within 5-6 years, the result from project benchmarking will show the result as expected which is CPM projects will meet or exceed the performance of worldwide average industry.
