Summary:E-commerce offers benefits for the companies, including SMEs. By using e-commerce, SMEs can gain competitive advantage and some other benefits. In Indonesia, e-commerce adoption by SMEs is still low. Therefore this study is aimed to explore the factors that influence the adoption decision of e-commerce by SMEs in Indonesia. Based on population condition, it can be inferenced whether the factors that influence the adoption decision of e-commerce are supporting the adoption or not. If the factors do not support the adoption, then it should be solved by all relevant parties (goverment, and other parties) so that e-commerce adoption can be improved. In exploring the factors that influence the adoption decision of e-commerce by SMEs, the theory of the business environment will be employed. The theory of the business environment will help to identify the factors that come from internal, external micro, and external macro with comprehensive view. In addition, to explore the factors that affect the adoption of e-commerce, The benefits obtained by SMEs in Indonesia by adopting e-commerce need to be confirmed. The real benefits confirmed by SMEs in Indonesia are used to determine how far the development of e-commerce for SMEs in Indonesia should be done.
