Summary: | PT. XYZ began its existence in 1949 as the Department of Engineering at PT. ABC Indonesia. As the development continues PT ABC Indonesia established the division as a separate Strategic Business Unit (SBU). In April 2002, it completely stands apart from PT. ABC Indonesia under the name of PT. XYZ, and began opened-up their business to other airlines. The establishment of XYZ as a subsidiary of ABC Indonesia, bring the assurance of the availability of the project as a consequence of ABC Indonesia ownership of XYZ, this fact unconsciously impact leadership behavior especially in the middle level employees to feel comfortable. PT XYZ has the competitive advantage that lies in their employee experience and technical aspects, but if linked to the performance, there are still customer complaints about the Turn Around Time (TAT) and the quality of the result. This fact showed the structural role in every division has not carrying out the optimal effort in doing their job. Using the model from Lord & Maher that shows linkage between leadership and organization performance, this research tries to proposed an improvement of PT. XYZ development program, in order to fulfilling the gap that occur in leadership competency and eventually bring PT. XYZ as a Global Player in MRO Business.The research is using both quantitative and qualitative data, where the quantitative is supported by two main data from the company’s internal assessment, first the 2012 Soft Competency Assessment, that shows there is a gap in the leadership competency part, and the 2010 Leadership Performance Survey that shows there are still some areas from the five leadership practices based on the work of Kouzes & Posner that still need development. On the other side, the qualitative data is supported by several methods in collecting data which are literature study, the public document, such as newspaper, annual reports, official statement and internal company’s document. The analysis of this research is done by comparing the ideal state of development program based on several reference from Noe et. al, Dessler, and Ivanevich to the existing program that PT. XYZ already has, and find the improvement needs. Based on the analysis, this research propose several improvement of PT. XYZ existing Leadership Development Program, those are Learning by Others, Coaching System, and Learning by Experience for the improvement implementation this research also proposing the establishment of PT. XYZ Leadership Academy to integrate all the development program. |
