UDEC software with distinct element approach can simulate and predict the behavior of rock mass around underground tunnel. This experiment studies an underground tunnel cross-section model made with various of geometry sizes (L = 10D, L = 15D, L = 20D), with all the data used taken from various of literatures. Then an analysis of displacement values and principal stresses (σ1 and σ3) performed. The experiment results then compared with analytical results. The results of this study that, at θ = 0o σ1= tangensial stress (σθ), σ3=radial stress (σr) as the distance farther from the tunnel, the value of the σr and σθ is decreasing and at θ = 90o σ1=radial stress (σr), σ3=tangensial stress (σθ) as the distance farther from the tunnel, the value of the σr is increasing and σθ is decreasing. There is a correspondence between experiment and analytical results, the greater the size of the L/D model used, error value is getting smaller. text
