The <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> purpose of this study is to learn the geological of this area and about fractures <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> characteristic in bedrock are exposed in the research area. Geographically, the research <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> area is located at 100o 45 '40.5475' E – 100o 51 '36.2887' E and 0o 17 '5.2174''N -0o <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> 20' 53.1574 'N. It covers about 77 km2 (7 km x 11 km). <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Geomorphology unit of this area is divided into three units, Complex Hills <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Unit, Denudasional Plain Unit, and Flood Plain Unit. Stratigraphy of the research area <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> is divided into six units lithostratigraphy and Alluvial Deposition Unit. The oldest rock <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> units in the study area is bedrock of the Central Sumatra Basin, Metamorphic Rocks <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Unit and Sandstone ‘Greywacke’ Unit Carbon- Early Perm. Due to increased activity <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> of magmatism, in Middle Permian-Early Jurassic, this unit is intruded by Granite <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Intrusion Unit. Then Sandstone Unit was deposited unconformably above the bedrock <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> and was deposited at alluvial fan and followed by Siltstone Unit, which was deposited <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> on the Eocene- Late Oligocene in the flood plain. After that, Sandstone-Conglomerate <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Unit was deposited unconformably in Braided Stream on Early Miocene, and the last <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> unit is Alluvial Deposition Unit that erodes the rock underneath the entire unit formed <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> at Holocene and still continues until now. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Geological structures developing in the research area is the Silam Normal Fault <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> occurs in the Eocene-Late Oligocene, Bomban Normal Fault, Dusun Strike-Slip Fault, <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Kwalan Strike-Slip Fault, and Pulaugadang Strike-Slip Fault. The main compressional <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> force trending northeast-southwest. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> General orientation of shear zones and joint in the research area trending <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Northeast-Southwest, whereas veins trending Northwest-Southeast. Based on the <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> quantitative analysis of the distribution of space and aperture using Power-law on <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Metamorphic Rocks Unit and Greywacke Unit, found that the distribution of spacing <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> and aperture follow Power-law distributions and present the fractal condition or scaleinvariant. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> While the average fracture density in the study area is 0.3% - 1.8% text |
