Description
Summary:"ED" field is an oil field which located in South Sumatera Basin. A 3D seismic volume from the 106 Km2 “ED” field, has been analyzed to define thin sands distribution. These thin sands are vary in thickness. Conventional attribute seismic and interpretation provide limited access in delineating this highly heterogeneous reservoir distribution. Interbeded thin sands, abundant coal layers, and complex structure orientation complicates interpretation this study.

Spectral decomposition analysis carried out to map the thickness variations of this thin sandstone layers and lateral geological discontinuities. Through analysis of the amplitude spectrum and phase spectrum I obtained the frequency of 43.75 Hz as the best frequency to map the thin sandstone layers thickness variations. The seismic inversion analysis is done to determine the best physical parameters that are sensitive to this thin sands layers and hydrocarbon. Lambda/Mu parameter is the most sensitive parameter to map these layers of sandstones.

By combining 43.75 Hz spectrum amplitude of spectral Decomposition and LMR inversion method, provides better information of these thin sandstone layers thickness variations.
