Summary: | The Direct use of geothermal can be applied for the purposes of agro industrial or the other process industries. Direct use applications tap hot brine and distribute the heat through pipes for varoius uses. These systems can replace convensional heating sources such as natural gas - fired boilers, furnace or hot water heaters. This study focused on the direct use of geothermal energy for pasteurized cow's milk. The goals of this study was to determine the potential and feasibility of the brine from separator in Wayang Windu power plant for heat supply to pasteurization of milks in the dairy processing at KPBS. Analysis of this study includes the analysis of the energy balance, pressure drop and heat loss at all hot water distribution pipe. Another analysis is designing a heat exchanger to replace the function of the boiler. From the analysis, the authors can conclude that in technically the brine from separator can be used for the pasteurization of milk in the dairy processing at KPBS, although the distance between the reinjection pipe and milk processing plant in KPBS is very long until to 12 km. |
