Summary: | Three-dimensional (3D) modelling of important objects using laser scanner have been applied by many researches around the world for documentation and preservation purpose. One of important and interesting obejct to be modeled in Indonesia is Herculesairplane of Indonesian Air Force. It has served for more than 50 years to protect Indonesia territory. 3D documentation of this object will be very important regarding its historical journey. Therefore, in this research, a Hercules airplane namely C-130 Hercules A-1315will be modeled as a 3D model using Terrestrial Laser Scanner (TLS) technology. The data used to make the 3D model are point clouds data of the aircraft which are obtained from a scanning process using TLS. In order to get the 3D model of the aircraft, some data processing steps are applied. They are registering, unifying, filtering, and meshing. The 3D model generated from these steps is different in size with the aircraft factory design data. The significant differences are found in wingspan and horizontal stabilizer sizes. They are about4 cm. These are categorized as a high differences if these are compared to 2 mm of average registration error. The differences may be caused by deformation happened on both of these aircraft parts that the size of them are no longer the same as they are produced at the first time. On the other hand, the area and volume of the 3D model are also measured. The area is1.135.42 m2and the volume is 540.45 m3. |
