| Summary: | Pawn shop is a national finance institute that work under supervisor by Indonesian financial department, which created to fulfill people who want to apply short term loan and get the money as soon as possible. Customer just brings the goods that will become collateral and then fill the form. While customer filling the form, appraiser will appraise the collateral goods then appraiser will give the amount of money to the customer. The limitation time to pay the loan is about 4 months. After that if customer cant pay the loan, pawn shop will do the auction for that goods. That procedure happen at syariah pawn shop, the difference is about how to get the profit. At conventional pawn shop profit come from interest paid, and then at syariah pawn shop profit come from the rent expense. This is the main problem of this final project, the comparison of cost that happened at conventional pawn shop and syariah pawn shop from the customer side. <br />

Data at this final project was come from the research at the conventional pawn shop in Pungkur, Bandung and also at syariah pawn shop at Padasuka, Bandung. The interview method is one of methods to get the data, beside that using practice at pawn shop. At the interview method, data was collected by interview with the worker at pawn shop like branch manager and appraisers. At the practice method, data collected with doing the pledge at conventional pawn shop and syariah pawn shop. <br />

After doing the research at conventional pawn shop and syariah pawn shop, the result will be analyzed using cost analysis method. Calculate the interest expense and administration expense that appear. The result is cost that customer paid at the syariah pawn shop is cheaper than conventional pawn shop. <br />
<br />
So it is the right time to syariah pawn shop doing some promotion to promote the strength that they have such as cheaper that conventional pawn shop and free from riba (interest expense). Free from riba is a main characteristic of syariah pawn shop. <br />
