Description
Summary:The museum, capable of documenting historical events, there for museum also a nation’s historical reminder. One way to see cultural images of a society is through a museum. But in the present museum visitors still think that the museum is a showroom that is only used to store historical objects and ancient stuffs, thus causing decreasing number of visitors and they also tend to be passive. Because of its passiveness, we need to encourage museums to showcase not only passive but interactive collections and also open to the opinions and contributions of museum visitors, it is necessary to use digital technology in the form of digital storytelling that can be explored through the smartphone. This research produce an application design of digital storytelling based augmented reality (AR) with introduction of museum collections at the areas of prehistoric society of Museum Pendidikan Nasional (MPN) as content. The goal is to facilitate the user to obtain audio visual information in the form of 3D animated images (three dimensional) complete with narrative stories of each scene presented in the screen when the mobile smartphone is directed to the marker. This design is expected to increase passive visitor interaction with museum collections during visits through augmented reality (AR) digital stroytelling approach and assist the thought process in receiving information.
