Summary:Nitrate ion selective electrode based on coated wire with ion exchanger as ionophore has been constructed and characterized. The electrode has been used for the indirect determination of NO in air. The Nernstian response was found for nitrate concentration in the range of 104-10-1 M or 6,2 – 6200 ppm. Composition of the membrane is 7% aliquot-336 nitrat solution, 35% polyvynilchloride (PVC) and 58% of dioctylphtalate (DOP) in THE as solvent. In this condition, the sensivity of electrode was 57,7 mV/decade. Limit of detection for this ISE is 10-4 M or equivalent with 6, 2 ppm NO3-. The good reproducibility of the electrode was in 60 - 120 second of response time, life time was 27 days in pH condition 3 - 11, the thickness of membrane was 0,07 mm. Gases in atmosphere, espcecially NO, can absorbed stoichiometrically by the H2O2 solutions and converted to nitrate, and can be determinate indirect method with ISE. In the simulation of determination of NO gases, the optimum condition reach by flow rate of gases is 300 mL/minute, in acid condition by 0,0266 M H2SO4 with the excess of Nal concentration (75%) and the concentration of absorber solution twice of it's stoichiometric. Method of ISE can used to indirect determination of NO gases with range of concentration more than 6,2 ppm.
