Description
Summary:PMA or Part Manufacturer Approval is a combined approval in design and

production for modification or replacement part and article for Type Certificated

Product. Company registered as PMA holder hereby able to produce and sell aircraft

parts and articles within the regulated area. The absence of local PMA in Indonesia

resulting in aircraft operator reliance upon foreign made spare part. Hence, n order to

seize the local market, a feasibility study of to build a PMA organizations in

Indonesia is required, by taking the example of spring pocket component as a

production object.

There are several processes undertaken in conducting feasibility studies. This

process is related to several aspects such as market aspects, technical aspects,

economic aspects and regulatory aspects. Non-parametric methods is used to analyze

the part’s reliability by using historical data. This reliability data hence used as input

for later iteration to determine the feasibility of spring pocket production.

The feasibility study result shows that the production of spring pocket is not

profitable economically. Therefore it is necessary to expand the production capability

for other components which can be expected to cover the loss of spring pocket

production segment.
