The study begins with the <br /> <br /> characterization of sago starch and then its reduced the particle size of sago starch <br /> <br /> using tumbler ballmill.After milling the sago starch powder, it characterized base <br /> <br /> on its particle size, particle morphology using SEM, and evaluation of powder <br /> <br /> physics. The particle size is 17,7 ± 0,046 μm. Sago starch with various <br /> <br /> concentration of 65, 75 and 85% is added kaolin as filler, PVP as binder agent, <br /> <br /> titanium dioxide and zinc oxide are as a comparison sunscreen. The sunscreen <br /> <br /> activity was previously determined using Xenon Weather-Ometer instrument and <br /> <br /> blue wool fabric as measurement standard of fading time. Irritation test and SPF <br /> <br /> determining as in vivo evaluation using albino male rabbit and UVB handheld <br /> <br /> lamp. The result showed no irritation skin and F2A formula (sago starch 75%) had <br /> <br /> protection ability toward solar simulator is more optimal than F1A and F3A <br /> <br /> formula with SPF value is 3,81 on F2A formula. Whereas in the formulation of <br /> <br /> compact powder added with sunscreen agent like titanium dioxide (F2B) showed <br /> <br /> the result of protection ability toward solar simulator is more optimal than F2B. <br /> <br /> SPF value on F2B formula is 11,64.
