Summary: | There are delays on several executions of Aircraft C-Check Maintenance on Boeing 737-800. Based on observations and C-Check data of eight Boeing 737-800 aircrafts, Turn Around Time target fulfillment compliance is 69%. According to that, a new improvement method to reduce unproductive and non value added activity is needed to increase maintenance quality and effectivity.

Evaluation on implementation of maintenance planning and scheduling principles is conducted in this research. Work sampling is used to collect data sample and analyze it. This method can show productivity level and identify unproductive activity. So, improvement to increase maintenance effectivity can be done by eliminating the unproductive activity. Heavy maintenance performance evaluation is reviewed after that. Then, root cause of Turn Around Time target fulfillment incompliance is analyzed using Cause Map for Low Schedule Compliance. Last, new improvement method is constructed and tested to satisfy the goals.

Based on analysis, low maintenance performance is caused by maintenance planning and scheduling principles that do not conform on maintenance process. Root cause of this matter is job problem which is no facility when it is needed and technician problem which is unequal technician skill. Maintenance quality improvement recommendation is increasing coordination between unit started from scheduling process so supporting unit can provide facility on schedule. Beside that, technician training and more detail technician scheduling by considering their skill level need to be done to solve technician problem. This proposed method can increase wrench time on aircraft registration 002 from the average 34% to 52% by improving supervision also providing qualified technician and facility. In addition, for aircraft registration 007 showed that wrench time can go up to 55% while the world class maintenance target is 50%. |
