Description
Summary:The western flank of Asri Basin is a part of China National Offshore Oil Company (CNOOC) SES Ltd. operation area in South East Sumatera with main oil field such as Intan and Widuri are located on the western flank of Asri Basin Based on analysis of gamma ray and resistivity log and description of cuttting and core samples from CNOOC SES Ltd, Asri Basin consists of some formations. Banuwati Formation was deposited in deep lacustrine environment with black shale as source rock. Talang Akar Formation is divided to Zelda Member and Gita Member which mainly consist of sand with varied sand/shale ratio. Formations that were deposited after Talang Akar are grouped to Post-Talang Akar Formation. Asri Basin has 2 main faults on the east with north-south orientation, and on the south with east-west orientation. From seismic cross lines, there are a lot of normal faults on Talang Akar Formation that were caused by rifting process, and on Post-Talang Akar Formation which are interpreted to be caused by tectonic inversion and sagging. Geochemical analysis with n-alkane, sterane & triterpane biomarkers shows that oil from western flank of Asri Basin are from one family, formed by mixed organic material; algae and terrestrial material with deep lacustrine depositional environment. This shows positive correlation between oil and source rock from Banuwati Formation and was accumulated on the western flank after migration process. Lateral migration happens on shaly sandstone, and vertical migration happens on stacking sandstone, and also through faults on Talang Akar Formation.
