Summary: | F1 competition is the highest class of single-seat auto racing that is organized by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). Since 2016 till now, F1 competition used 5 dry tyre compounds: hard, medium, soft, supersoft, and ultrasoft tyres, where hard tyre is the hardest compound and ultrasoft tyre is the softest one. The harder the tyre, the highest durability and the slower speed are. In this final project, a mathematical model for tyre selection strategy that consists of 6 parameters: laptime, fuel consumption, tyre degradation, driver degradation rate, laptime variability, and tyre saving, is formulated based on Free Practice and Qualifying Sessions Result. From this model, using real F1 data contours for tyre selection strategy are gpresented. |
