Description
Summary:Aquaculture supplies some part of animal protein needed for human

consumption that constantly increase as human population increases. Feed is one

of the most important factor in aquaculture. High quality feed with minimal cost is

needed to improve fishery productivity. Black Soldier Fly prepupae meal can be

used as an alternative feed material because it contains high amount of protein.

Black Soldier Fly can also be reared on organic substrate which makes it easy to

obtain. This study was conducted to evaluate the usage of Black Soldier Fly

prepupa meal in feed formulation for Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus)

nursery. Experimental Diet (ED) used for treatment consisted of soybean meal,

corn starch, Black Soldier Fly prepupa meal, wheat meal, bone meal, gelatine,

vitamin, mineral premix, and fish oil. Each Experimental Diet (ED 1,2 &3)

contains 0%, 10%, 20% black soldier fly prepupa meal contentration respectively.

The experiment was conducted for 28 days. ED3 obtained the highest value for

Body Weight Increase, (5,99g± 2,90) and Spesific Growth Rate (3,32 ± 0,3)%

Bwday—1. ED3 also obtained the lowest value for Feed Convertion Ratio,

amounting at 1,48 ± 0,16. ED 1 obtained the highest value for Survival Rate (51 ±

10,18)% and Length Increase (1,41± 0,42). One-Way Anova Test indicates that

concentration difference of Black Soldier Fly prepupae meal used in feed did not

induce a tangible effect on the growth performance and survival of Nile Tilapia.

Key word
