This system is applied almost in all river systems in major cities in Indonesia especially in Java. However, in terms of environmental aspects, the canal system is considered not to pay attention to environmental sustainability and tends to damage the river ecosystem. The East Flood Canal is one of the main rivers in Semarang City that functions as flood control. Currently the East Flood Canal can’t function optimally causing flooding in East Semarang. Semarang City Government is trying to reduce the flood by normalizing the East Flood Canal to <br /> <br /> increase capacity of East Flood Canal. Normalization by build a concrete canal system feels like less attention to the flow of water naturally, because it will remove the river bank ecosystem. In addition, water will also be directly channeled into the sea without experiencing infiltration process first. This Final Project Research and Design aims to identify and attempt to apply the river eco-hydraulic theory in creating a more natural river design that is considered better in solving flood and environmental problems. Collection data methods, using primary and secondary data collection. While the method of data analysis using qualitative method with descriptive nature with approach using Eco-Hydraulic theory. There is the application of retention ponds and <br /> <br /> constructed wetlands to retain, filter and absorb water naturally before flowing into the sea. There is an injection pump in the rainy season water can be injected <br /> <br /> into the soil. The use of injection pump can be done based on the test result of river water quality samples and wells in the area. The rearrangement of the East <br /> <br /> Flood Canal River with a more natural system will create a new public open space in the form of green open spaces and retention ponds that can be enjoyed by the community as a new tourist attraction in Semarang.<p align="justify"> text
