Description
Summary:In the current mining industry, fluctuations in the prices of mining commodities often occur, either the increase or decrease of the selling price. Increased selling prices led to increased production activity, which was accompanied by an increase in overall operating costs. While the decline in selling prices will lower the company's profit. This leads to a decrease in the productivity chains of the mining industry in general. Low productivity in a stage will impact on other mining stages. So it is necessary to do a study on fleet productivity and cost generated in pit A.

The purpose of this research is to select the haul truck with higher productivity and with the total cost that is relatively lower. The study was limited to 5 months production data in Pit A. The method used is literature study and field observation.

This research gives the result that the productivity of the Komatsu HM4001 haul truck is 156,414 Ton/Month for Ore and 179,639 Ton/Month for Waste, higher compared to the Caterpillar 740C Truck with 147,429 Ton/Month for Ore and 169,525 Ton/Month for Waste. In addition, the total cost generated by the Komatsu HM400-1 truck is smaller (cheaper) than the Cat 740C, which is $67,666 for Komatsu HM400-1 and $74,491 for Cat 740C. Thus it is found that the Komatsu HM400-1 haul trucks are more feasible for the company to meet their production targets.
