Description
Summary:: A sufficient water treatment plant (WTP) is required to fulfil the objectivity of drinking water supply service functions which are, quality, quantity, continuity, and competitive water price. Gunung Putri WTP is one of the Water Treatment Plants owned by PDAM Tirta Kahuripan Bogor Regency, which serves the population in Gunung Putri, Cileungsi, and Jonggol district. Gunung Putri WTP has an installed treatment capacity of 400 l/s with raw water taken from Cikeas River. The existing installation, however, has an idle capacity of 50 l/s, causing the plant to produce water at the flowrate of 350 l/s. Drinking water demand will keep on increasing in line with the population growth, thus requiring drinking water companies to respond by making available sufficient capacity of water treatment plant and produce water quality that meets the existing standard despite the extremity of the raw water quality. Based on the water demand projection in year 2030, Gunung Putri WTP service area requires a water treatment capacity of 900 l/s. In order to meet the targeted service area percentage rise, requiring an increase of 500 l/s from the existing capacity. For that reason, a new WTP with the treatment capacity of 500 l/s is designed. The raw water for water treatment in the new WTP will be taken from Cileungsi river. Based on the evaluation of the existing condition, some existing treatment units fail to comply with the criteria design and presedimentation unit are not available to respond to the high turbidity in the raw water. Thus, modification of existing Gunung Putri WTP and design of presedimentation unit will also be conducted.
